Cold, wet and miserable: Alabama fans relive an ugly and historic Iron Bowl they'd rather forget

It was the first-ever Iron Bowl played in Bryant-Denny Stadium -- the first in Tuscaloosa since 1901.

It would be Mike Dubose's last game as the Alabama head coach.

The 2000 U.S. presidential election result was still up in the air.

Alabama was ranked No. 3 in the preseason, following 1999's SEC title and heightened expectations. Alabama finished a disastrous season 3-8 overall.

But none of that mattered. Above all, it was cold. And wet. And miserable.

That's all Alabama fans -- and even some Auburn -- care to remember about a dreadful game that ended in a 9-0 Tigers win, a defensive struggle that produced only three Damon Duval field goals.
