“You know when you meet someone and you just click?” Shepherd said. “That’s what happened.”
Shepherd was in Dothan on Thursday taking part in the first Staying Cody Strong golf tournament at Highland Oaks, designed to raise funds to build a locker room for the Ashford High School baseball team. The tournament was organized by Cody’s mother, Alicia Hayes. There were 19 teams entered for the event.
Later Thursday, Shepherd planned to be home with family and friends to watch the first night of the NFL Draft. Shepherd, a Buford, Ga., native who now resides in Guntersville, is projected to be chosen anywhere from the fourth to the seventh round.
