Charlie Strong hired to Alabama as a defensive analyst, according to ESPN

Nick Saban has strengthened his coaching staff for next season.

After having Charlie Strong meet with him and his staff on last week, Chris Lowe of ESPN reports that Strong has agreed to join Alabama’s staff as a defensive analyst. He was offered a position in this same role at the University of Florida; however, he turned it down.

The 59-year-old is regarded as one of the best defensive minds in college football – capturing a pair of national championships with the Gators at defensive coordinator in 2006 and 2008.

Strong has also served as head coach at Texas, Louisville and South Florida.
