Alabama football fans worry about all sorts of things, some relevant and some not, but if there was a countdown of concerns, special teams (or “the kicking game,” if you prefer) has occupied the No. 1 spot for about five consecutive years.
One reason for that is the sheer size of the subject. Saying that you want to “talk about special teams” is like a foreign visitor saying he or she wants to “see America.” There are majestic mountains and mighty rivers, and then there are vast stretches of parched, barren desert, or Ohio.
The Alabama kicking game has its share of both, often within the same game.
