Another former Alabama quarterback named a Power 4 starter for 2025 season

Nick Saban left plenty of parting gifts for Kalen DeBoer in his final recruiting class of 2023, but both of the quarterbacks from that No. 1 class in the country are starting for other programs just two years later. Eli Holstein became the starter for Pitt last season, and now Dylan Lonergan is going to be the starting QB for Bill O’Brien at Boston College in his redshirt sophomore year.

After a battle with incumbent Grayson James, Lonergan was named the starter on Monday, the same day that Ty Simpson officially earned the job in Tuscaloosa. James replaced Alabama’s Week 1 opponent, Thomas Castellanos, at BC last season, which prompted Castellanos to transfer to Florida State for his final season of eligibility.
