For the third straight year and seventh time in the last 10 years, Alabama is the media's pick to win the SEC championship.
In just two of the previous six, the Crimson Tide actually won the championship that year. Alabama performed as predicted in both 2014 and 2016, but not in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2017.
It's worth noting that only six times since 1992 has the predicted SEC champion actually won the conference. That happened with Florida in 1994, 1995 and 2008, LSU in 2007 and Alabama in the aforementioned two years.
So it's not as if it's just Alabama that often doesn't quite live up to expectations (at least in terms of winning the conference).
