Alabama's Rashaan Evans, Anthony Averett scratched from 2018 Senior Bowl due to injury

Alabama's Rashaan Evans and Anthony Averett have been scratched from next week's Reese's Senior Bowl due to injury, executive director Phil Savage confirmed Thursday.

Evans, a linebacker, is considered a likely first-round draft pick in April. He dealt with a "number of nagging injuries" during the 2017 season and chose to withdraw from the game, Savage said.

Averett, a cornerback, suffered a sprained ankle getting off the bus prior to the Crimson Tide's Sugar Bowl game against Clemson on Jan. 1. He played with the injury in that game and in the College Football Playoff Championship Game against Georgia on Jan.
