If not for Dana Duckworth’s mother, the first-year University of Alabama gymnastics coach never would have made it this far.
Duckworth’s mother, Judy Dobransky, has been a prominent coach and judge in the gymnastics community for decades. She was a PE teacher in Duckworth’s hometown of Sterling Heights, Mich., and like so many children, Duckworth followed in her parent’s footsteps as a matter of course.
“I literally grew up in the gym — being there, running around, watching gymnasts dance,” Duckworth said.
