Quanesha Burks dreamed of playing women’s basketball at the University of Tennessee under former coach Pat Summitt, but then her junior year of high school rolled around and priorities changed. Burks switched from basketball to track and field.
She thought she wanted move out of state, but the University of Alabama convinced her otherwise.
“I tried to get out, I really did,” Burks said, “but here, I just felt at home.”
However, as the 2013 National Signing Day approached in February, no one knew Burks’ plan. It was a secret. She always imagined having a reveal party where a baseball hat would announce her decision.
