Alabama released its 2017 depth chart Monday ahead of its season opener against Florida State.
As Nick Saban himself points out, the depth chart isn’t final as changes are still possible whenever throughout the season. Some positions also had a slash mark (/) between player names to indicate on the spot on the depth chart isn’t firm – whether that’s as a starter or backup.
At quarterback, though, Alabama does have a set starter in place for the first time since the 2013 season with sophomore Jalen Hurts. True freshman Tua Tagovailoa is his primary backup.
Other notable listed starters were at right guard, right tackle, defensive end and cornerback because of the uncertainty or offseason battles at those positions.
