Alabama promotes former LB Denzel Devall to director of player development

Former Alabama linebacker Denzel Devall has received his second promotion since joining Nick Saban’s staff last July.

Devall, who was originally hired as the Tide’s first player development personnel assistant and eventually promoted in January to assistant strength and conditioning coach, was elevated to director of player development last week, the Bastrop Daily Enterprise reported Tuesday.

Devall replaces Freddie Roach in the position, who Ole Miss announced as its new defensive line coach last week; Kerry Stevenson has been Alabama’s other director of player development since February 2013.

Devall has taken on numerous responsibilities with the new position, most notably assisting with recruiting.
