Alabama football team not affected by tornado in Dallas area

DALLAS u2015 Dangerous weather hit downtown Dallas the day Alabama's football team arrived for the Cotton Bowl semifinal.

The Crimson Tide was not affected by the tornado warnings that caused evacuations early Saturday evening. A team spokesman told AL.com they were at practice at Coppell High School in Arlington, well west of downtown when the sirens sounded. From there, they went to nearby AT&T Stadium for a welcome event.

The Cotton Bowl media hotel, located near Alabama's team headquarters, evacuated guests to the basement level of the parking garage amid reports of a tornado headed straight at downtown.
