If the SEC is the strongest conference in college football (and it is) Alabama football, head coach Nick Saban deserves much of the credit. Counting Nick, the SEC, Saban- tree is five of the leagues head coaches.
However, the biggest factor in SEC strength is not coaching talent. It is the massive pool of player talent built up through recruiting dominance. In head coaching talent, the current SEC is somewhat of a mixed bag. For at least half of the league’s head coaches, job insecurity is an annual peril.
Some of that job insecurity naturally follows the transitional tenures of new jobs.
