Many Alabama football fans are quite familiar with the Duke Blue Devils head coach, David Cutcliffe. Widely known is Cutcliffe growing up in Alabama and being a graduate of the University of Alabama.
He was also a darn good high school football player at Banks High School in Birmingham, AL. Many fans assume Cutcliffe became a respected quarterback coach after being a high school QB. In fact, he was a linebacker, whose playing career was cut short by a knee injury. Back in that heyday of Bear Bryant football, quite a few players never fully recovered from a serious knee injury.
