One of Alabama's young linebackers has been kicked off the team.
Alabama dismissed VanDarius Cowan from the team Monday due to a violation of team rules, Nick Saban announced in a statement.
"Each of us has a responsibility to represent The University of Alabama in a first-class way, and failure to meet those standards can't be tolerated," Saban said. "We wish VanDarius the very best in the future."
A former four-star recruit, Cowan played in seven games as a freshman last season and made two tackles.
