With Alabama’s sights now set on the Oklahoma Sooners after defeating LSU on Saturday, this will be the second game in a row that the Tide’s defense will face a talented quarterback who was a preseason Heisman favorite.
The No. 11-ranked Sooners are being led by quarterback John Mateer, a transfer from Washington State who has thrown for almost 2,000 yards and eight touchdowns through eight games. He was sidelined for one game due to a hand injury.

Although Mateer hasn’t seen the success that he’s hoped for this season, Mateer is a talented quarterback with a proven record of success, as he threw for over 3,000 yards and 29 touchdowns last season with the Cougars.
