Major General George H. Thomas brought his Union forces to Nashville, TN in December of 1864 for a battle against Lieutenant General John Bell Hood of the Confederacy. It would turn out to be one of the largest victories achieved by the Union Army during the entire Civil War.
Head Coach Nate Oats found himself in a similar position. Bringing his Alabama Men’s Basketball program to Nashville to compete in the 2021 SEC Tournament. First on the docket was the Mississippi State Bulldogs, led by Ben Howland.
It was one of the largest deficits in an SEC Tournament game in several years.
