Smith is a product of La Salle High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He de-committed from Ohio State and verbally committed to Alabama in June. The Ohio native said it was Nick Saban, who pushed him to pick the Tide over the Buckeyes.
“That was one of the main reasons why I chose Alabama,” Smith said. “I know I will be able to go one on one day in and day out with the best person, who can develop me the most out of anybody in the country. I felt like that was a great reason to commit to them.
