Alabama Crimson Tide fullback Jalston Fowler wasn't shy when asked what led to the now-#7 Tide's 23-17 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels this past Saturday.

"It's like we were scared to lose," Fowler said, via an Associated Press report filed on Monday. "Everybody wasn't playing their A-Game. They were just 'Oh, if we escape with a win we'll be all right.'"

The Tide now face the reality of likely having to win out to both stay in the SEC West title race and keep their name in the hat for a College Football Playoff spot.

However, Alabama has turned close regular-season losses into motivation before. The Alabama Crimson Tide faced similar situations in 2011 and 2012 after regular-season defeats, parlaying their own internal motivation into national championships in both of those years.

This year's road back to a title starts on Saturday at Arkansas (3-2, 0-2).
