Minneapolis, Minn. – Five members of the Akron swimming and diving team competed at the 2016 USA Open Swimming Championships this past week at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
Senior Laura Savariau (Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud, France) and sophomore's Madison Myers (Copley, Ohio), Ragen Engel (Springfield, Ohio), and Sadie Fazekas (Windsor, Ontario) represented the Zips at the Championships.
Fazekas and Engel competed in the C final in the 100-meter butterfly on Aug. 4, placing 20th and 22nd overall, respectively. Fazekas clocked in with a time of 1:01.99 while Engel was close behind with a 1:02.
