AKRON, Ohio – The Akron swimming and diving team begins its quest for its fourth consecutive Mid-American Conference championship, as the Zips open the 2016-17 season with a head-to-head dual against fellow MAC opponent, Ball State, on Friday, Oct. 28, at the Ocasek Natatorium.
The Zips are lead by fourth-year head coach Brian Peresie, the reigning MAC Coach of the Year. Since taking over four years ago, Peresie has turned the program around going from eighth in the MAC to first place champions in the previous three seasons.
Returning to the pool this year for the Zips are 24 letterwinners from the 2016 squad, including 2016 first team All-MAC selections senior Luka Szynal (Lublin, Poland), junior Paloma Marrero Munoz (Merida, Spain), and sophomore Madison Myers (Copley, Ohio), along with second-team All-MAC honoree sophomore Sadie Fazekas (Windsor, Ontario).
