WACO, Texas– The University of Akron is one of 75 institutions nationally that will be recognized by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) for its Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in football.
Miami (Fla.), Northwestern, and Stanford will share the AFCA's 2016 Academic Achievement Award. They recorded a 100 percent rate for members of its freshman football student-athlete class of 2009.
The Zips, under the guidance of fifth-year head coach Terry Bowden, will be recognized for graduating 75 percent or more of their football student-athletes (2009-12).
The teams will be recognized at the Honors Luncheon on Monday, Jan.
