YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Zips freshman Rita Pedroso (Porto, Portugal) earned a victory in both doubles and singles play on Friday to highlight The University of Akron tennis team's first day of competition at the Youngstown Invitational at the Boardman Tennis Center.
"Today was a difficult day for us overall," head coach Brandon Padgett said. "We stepped up in flights for everyone, and had mixed results. We let leads get away from us on a few courts, which shows that we were playing at a level that we can be competitive, but it also shows that we need to work on our mental toughness more.
