TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of Akron women's tennis team earned ITA All-Academic Team honors, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced.
Additionally, three Zips were named 2016 ITA Scholar-Athletes— freshman Luisa Echeverry (Cali, Columbia), sophomore Sophia Geier (Burgebrach, Germany), and senior Martina Zerbola (Neuquen, Argentina).
"I am extremely proud of the effort in and out of the classroom from our outstanding student-athletes," said Zips' head coach Brandon Padgett. "We had several players come extremely close to joining Luisa, Martina, and Sophia on this list, which ensured that the team as a whole, qualified for this prestigious award.
