AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron volleyball team under the direction of second-year head coach Tom Hanna officially began its 43rd season of competition with its first practice of the 2016 campaign on Tuesday evening at James A. Rhodes Arena.
"We are excited to get the group back together and continue moving forward in our process of becoming perennial contenders in the MAC," said Hanna. "It's a process that takes time, and I'm looking forward to making some real positive strides towards our goal this season."
Akron returns 12 letterwinners to its 2016 roster, including the Zips' top hitter from last season in senior Amanda Bedell (Hudson, Ohio).
