Volleyball Gives Toledo a Scare, Falls 3-1

AKRON, Ohio – Akron put together a dominating performance in the second set, and nearly pulled off a late upset in the fourth, but the effort fell short in a 3-1 (20-25, 25-15, 21-25, 23-25) loss to Toledo on Saturday at James A. Rhodes Arena.

Sophomore Kayla Gwozdz (Temperance, Mich.) delivered a team-high 14 while classmate Patience Brown (Bloomington, Ill.) and freshman Elya Karsner (Frankfort, Ky.) notched 12 kills apiece. The 12 kills was a career-high for Karsner as she also hit .500 with only a three errors on 18 attempts for the night.
