Men’s Basketball: The University of Akron men’s basketball team will have its home opener on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m., as it hosts American University at James A. Rhodes Arena in Akron.
The Zips enter the game with a 0-1 record after losing to Youngstown State on Saturday, 90-82. The Eagles of the Patriot Conference are 0-2 after losses to major programs Maryland (Big Ten Conference) and Texas A&M (Big 12 Conference).
Akron didn’t have a problem scoring on Saturday night versus the Penguins, as five players scored at least 10 points. Isaiah Johnson led the way with 17 points, and he also had seven rebounds and five assists.
