CLEVELAND– Nine University of Akron football players earned Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors for the 2016 season, the league office announced on Tuesday.
In total, the MAC honored 146 football student-athletes from its 12 schools. Eastern Michigan led all programs with 18 honorees, followed by Western Michigan (16), Central Michigan (15), and Northern Illinois (15).
Zip junior S Zach Guiser (Fayette City, Pa.), a first-team Academic All-American, was one of 28 students who was a three-time recipient of the academic honor.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student who has excelled in athletics and academics.
