Akron, Ohio – A pair of University of Akron women's golfers landed in the Top 10 of the U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifier at Port Huron Golf Club in Fort Gratiot Twp., Mich. Sophomore Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio) earned medalist honors, winning the event by three strokes while junior Pader Her (Holt, Mich.) finished 10th overall.
With the win, Nicholson became the Zips' first women's golfer to qualify for a U.S. Women's Amateur Championship event. Nicholson finished the 18-hole qualifier with a 2-under par 70 performance on a course that stretches a little over 6,200 yards.
