The University of Akron men’s soccer team beat Grand Canyon University on Wednesday night, 3-2, in double-overtime at FirstEnergy Stadium-Cub Cadet Field.
Junior forward Stuart Holthusen (Auckland, New Zealand) scored twice in the game, including the game-winning goal in the 104th minute to send the Akron faithful home with a victory. Holthusen also scored to put Akron up 2-1 in the 60th minute. He now has four goals in just seven games this season.
Jonathan Lewis scored the first goal, his second of the season, and he also picked up his team-leading seventh assist of the season.
