AKRON, Ohio- In the opening day of a three-game series, the Akron softball team split a twinbill with Ohio on a sunny Friday afternoon at Lee R. Jackson Field.
The Zips took the first game, 1-0. The Bobcats captured the nightcap with a 7-1 victory.
The Zips improve to 18-22 overall and 7-7 in MAC play, while the Bobcats fell to 27-12 and 8-6 in MAC play.
In the first game, the game remained scoreless for five-and-a-half innings until senior OF Savannah Fruin (Delray Beach, Fla.) hit an RBI single to left field, scoring junior OF Ashley Sims (Brooksville, Fla.
