AKRON, Ohio – Junior Sophia Geier (Burgebrach, Germany) was named the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by the University of Akron, on March 20.
Geier helped the women's tennis team pick up wins over Milwaukee and Binghamton with a pair of victories in both singles and doubles action over the weekend. The junior posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Milwaukee's Labina Petrovska and took a 6-0, 6-4 decision against the Bearcats' Annie DiMuro to improve to 14-1 in singles action this spring.
Geier teamed up with junior Ariadna Blinova (Riga, Latvia) to register a pair of wins and the duo remained unbeaten in doubles action this spring.
