AKRON, Ohio – A walk-off home run by junior Savannah Fruin (Delray Beach, Fla.) in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Akron a 1-0 win in game one but the Zips would fall short in a comeback effort, 4-2, to Northern Illinois in game two of today's double-header action at Lee Jackson Field.
The first of two games slated for today turned out to be an old fashioned pitchers dual between Akron's senior Erin Seiler (Bowling Green, Ohio) and NIU's Alex Frenz.
