AKRON, Ohio— The University of Akron football program celebrated the 2016 season with its annual awards banquet on Sunday afternoon at Quaker Station in downtown Akron.
Senior WR/PR JoJo Natson, Jr. (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) was named the outstanding offensive performer and special teams player of the year, while sophomore LB Ulysees Gilbert III (Ocala, Fla.) was named the outstanding defensive performer.
A first-team All-MAC selection at punt returner and a second-team All-MAC pick at wide receiver, Natson appeared in all 12 games with 11 starts.
