CLEVELAND– Sophomore running back Van Edwards, Jr. (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), has been tabbed the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the East Division, the league announced on Monday.
Edwards led the Zips' rushers in the 35-25 win at Ball State. He had a career-high 16 carries for a career-high 112 yards and a touchdown. It marked the first 100-yard rushing performance of his collegiate career.
In seven games, Edwards has 55 carries for 322 yards and two touchdowns.
The MAC honor is the first in Edwards' career. He is the fifth Zip to earn conference recognition this fall, joining senior WR/PR JoJo Natson (Offense- Sept.
