Akron football gains commitments from Aurora's Bubba Arslanian & Hudson's Jonah Wieland

The University of Akron football team has received commitments from two more area high school standouts.

Aurora senior Bubba Arslanian and Hudson senior Jonah Wieland have pledged to play for Zips football coach Terry Bowden and his staff.

Arslanian played linebacker and running back for Aurora. Wieland served as a punter and offensive lineman for Hudson.

Aurora and Hudson each put together successful seasons that included appearances in the Division II playoffs in 2016.

UA also has commitments from the following area seniors for the Class of 2017: De’Andre Brimage, Marquess Callaway and Jemarulin Suggs of East; Marquise Bridges of Ellet; Marcus Kidd of Garfield; Kobie Booker of Barberton, Dusty Burkhart of Coventry; Reggie Corner of Canton McKinley; Tracy Jordan of Springfield; Justin Sampson and Malik Wooldridge of St.
