Milwaukee, Wis. – The Akron offense struggled to keep possession in the attacking third and couldn't find the back of the net despite a solid defensive effort as the Zips fell in the 2016 season opener, 0-1, to Milwaukee, Friday night.
The first half of the contest was a defensive battle between the two squads before Milwaukee garnered the lone goal of the contest in the 39' of play.
A shot by the Panthers Maria Stephens was deflected by senior goalie Annabelle Hegeman (Frostburg, Md.) but could not be corralled as the ball popped over the keepers head for the score.
