NC State ended spring football without any clarity at quarterback. The situation appears to be even more muddled now that Ryan Finley has decided to transfer from Boise State to the Wolfpack to reunite with offensive coordinator Eli Drinkwitz.
Four quarterbacks have transferred to NC State since 2012, more than any other ACC school. Finley is the third transfer quarterback to sign under Dave Doeren, who is entering his fourth season. If Finley ends up winning the starting job, Doeren will have started only transfer quarterbacks since he arrived. That obviously remains a big ‘if’ because Finley would have to beat out Jalan McClendon and Jakobi Meyers, who went through the entire spring splitting the reps.
