North Carolina already has seven commits for the Class of 2017, including five from the ESPN Junior 300. Four are from North Carolina.
As Gerry Hamilton pointed out after defensive tackle Jordon Riley committed last week, this is extremely significant for the Tar Heels.
Why? Because there were 10 ESPN 300 prospects from North Carolina in the Class of 2016, the seventh most of any state. But none of those recruits picked an in-state school.
Compare that to the Class of 2015, when there were nine North Carolina prospects ranked in the ESPN 300.
