DURHAM, N.C. -- When David Cutcliffe walked into the training room around noon on Sunday, he went with one purpose in mind: to check on his players’ demeanor following a heartbreaking loss to Miami that ended with a wild lateral and, ultimately, an officiating error that cost the Blue Devils the game.
“Their spirits were strong. They had their heads held high,” Cutcliffe recalled. “Their body demeanor was what I wanted it to be. Nobody was feeling sorry for themselves.”
All signs Cutcliffe wanted to see. But it is hard to push away what happened on Saturday night, given the injustice many inside the program still feel was dealt to them after the ACC ruled there were four officiating errors made on the final lateral that resulted in a Miami touchdown.
