Pitt's tight ends becoming weapons in passing game

Pitt’s tight ends had a breakout performance against Virginia last week, as the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette noted.

J.P. Holtz and Scott Orndoff combined for four catches and 99 yards, including a 37-yard touchdown by Orndoff. And there was a very good reason both were so heavily involved in the offensive attack.

From the Post-Gazette:

Part of the reason they were so involved against Virginia is that the Cavaliers, more than any other team Pitt has played this season, focused on taking away star receiver Tyler Boyd. He received double- and triple-coverage all game, leaving the tight ends room to get open.
