Justin Fuente completed his first spring at Virginia Tech on Saturday, with the offense (Orange) getting the best of the defense (Maroon) by a 20-15 margin in the Hokies’ annual spring game. That score hardly told the story, however. Here are three takeaways from the weekend scrimmage:
1. New offense makes strides: ... But the quarterback question remains unsettled. Fuente wasn’t going to read too much into one of 15 practices, but Jerod Evans had the sharpest performance of the group. Evans, a junior college transfer from Trinity Valley CC, completed 8 of 15 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown.
