North Carolina unveils plans for new indoor practice facility

Count North Carolina as the latest ACC school to get an indoor practice facility all its own.

Athletic director Bubba Cunningham unveiled plans Wednesday for the new facility to the Board of Trustees finance and facilities committee. Though the cost of the project, along with a location, have not yet been determined, the plan does have approval from the Board of Governors. It will be funded entirely through private fund-raising.

Currently, North Carolina uses the Eddie Smith Field House when it needs to practice inside. But the facility does not have a regulation field, and football shares it with other sports.
