Georgia Tech backup quarterback Tim Byerly won’t be granted a sixth year from the NCAA, but he won’t end his career with any animosity toward the NCAA or his school.
In a sincere letter posted on Georgia Tech’s website, Byerly thanked alumni, students, professors, fans, benefactors, doctors and coaches for their “unconditional support” during “an emotionally draining” season. Byerly, the Yellow Jackets’ backup quarterback entering 2015, tore an ACL during preparations for a Week 2 game against Tulane.
A season-ending injury one game into a senior season is no way for a career to come to an end, and Byerly admits in his letter he was devastated following the injury.
