In between the cards piled high on his desk and the countless phone calls from well-wishers, Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer has had to get his team ready for a game.
Its contest Thursday night at Georgia Tech is the first since Beamer announced he would be retiring at the end of the season. How will the Hokies react? How will Beamer react, knowing he has at least three, potentially four, games left in his coaching career?
Nobody knows for sure. The preceding 11 days have been extremely emotional for everyone. But he also believes his players have focused in on the main goal: Earn bowl eligibility for a 23rd straight season and send Beamer out victoriously.
