First-year Syracuse football coach Dino Babers is a part of a six-person search committee that will target a new athletic director, the school announced Wednesday.
The placement on the committee of Babers, who was hired from Bowling Green by previous Orange AD Mark Coyle in December, should alleviate any concern about Babers’ stability with the program. Coyle left to become Minnesota’s AD two weeks ago, before Babers had coached a single game at Syracuse.
Babers was surprised by Coyle’s departure, as the coach learned of the move from reporters during the ACC spring meetings May 11 in Amelia Island, Florida.
