Clemson had three starters in its highly rated secondary get drafted, but coach Dabo Swinney believes that unit is in much better position headed into the season.

Why?

"We have more competition in the secondary than we had last year," Swinney said recently. "It was a weird deal in that we had a good first group, but the depth wasn’t very competitive outside of Jadar Johnson. This year, that’s a different scenario. We’ve got good talent and way more competition than we had last year. I think we’re going to be in a much better position from a coaching standpoint when you’ve got that type of competitive depth.
