Eddie Robinson has a Dabo Swinney story that he likes to share. It was six or seven years ago at an alumni event, early in Swinney's tenure, and a Clemson supporter took issue with one of the ways the young head coach was running his program.
The fan ripped Swinney about his strength and conditioning program, saying that Clemson would never compete with rival South Carolina until it upgraded in that department. The fresh-faced Swinney calmly took in the belligerent barb, saying his goal at Clemson was to recruit the right type of athlete, the kind that -- as always -- makes the adults in charge look much smarter than they are.
