Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was selected Atlantic ACC Player of the Year, and Duke safety Jeremy Cash took ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Watson, the preseason choice to win the award, earned 39 votes from the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association to easily outdistance himself from Florida State running back Dalvin Cook. In addition to being named Overall ACC Player of the Year, he also was selected ACC Offensive Player of the Year.
“If you look at any championship team out there, most of them have a great quarterback and leader,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said in a statement.
