DURHAM – With a victory and a draw against South Africa over the last week, former Duke women's soccer standout Toni Payne helped her home country of Nigeria qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Nigeria defeated South Africa, 1-0, last week and then on Tuesday the Super Falcons posted a 0-0 draw to advance. It will mark the first time since 2008 that Nigeria has qualified for the Olympics.

Payne, a 2017 Duke graduate, represented Nigeria at the 2023 Women's World Cup and helped the country advance to the round of 16.
